A large community cohesion gathering in Manchester brought together around one thousand British Pakistani Muslims to promote peace, unity and solidarity against hatred. The event was organised by Dr Liaqat Malik, a British-born community figure known for supporting initiatives that encourage social harmony and engagement across communities.
The event was later discussed by Matthew Wright of LBC (Leading Britain’s Conversation), who described the gathering as a powerful example of grassroots leadership promoting unity and mutual respect.
A Clear Message Against Violence and Hatred
During the event, participants took part in symbolic gestures aimed at condemning violence, racism and hatred. Attendees were invited to raise serviettes as a sign of rejecting violence, followed by switching on the torches on their mobile phones to symbolise peace and unity.
The moment created a striking visual display inside the venue, with hundreds of lights representing a shared commitment to peace and solidarity.
The gathering also expressed support for the Jewish community, reinforcing the message that communities must stand together against antisemitism and all forms of discrimination.
